About Safranin Releases

There are a lot of labels and industry people that have a very one-sided view of how things have to be released. We give them the finger and say do whatever the hell you want to do as long as your music is getting out there. The industry has been long broken, so why would you follow a bunch of rules to a broken logic of operating?
Safranin Sound offers releases in many formats. Some CDs are manufactured via disc replication, which refers to large-scale pressings where the data is "stamped" onto the disc using large industrial machinery and creates retail quality discs. Safranin releases manufactured in this way are The Antiques, Sewn With Stitches; Alcian Blue, Slow Colorless Stare; The Vandelles EP; and The Vera Violets, Dirty Rainbow.
Other releases are manufactured via disc duplication, which is the copying of the data onto a pre-made recordable disc either via a large-scale duplication unit or a single disc on a personal computer. Some of the releases produced in this manner are either manufactured by a plant on a large-scale duplication unit and are accompanied with a professionally printed insert (Ceremony, Disappear, or Screen Vinyl Image, The Midnight Sun EP) or the release is produced as totally DIY with hand-made packaging and each disc is created on a personal computer (The Offering, Self-Titled, or Alcian Blue, Silvers Sleep Walk). Some releases are a hybrid with the disc manufactured by a plant on the large-scale duplication unit with hand-made packaging (Screen Vinyl Image, The Chaser Single Alcian Blue, Fall Behind EP).
The final decision for the format of a release rests with the band and their budget. At times, it is simply more cost effective for some bands to use the duplication or CDr methodology. While some consumers prefer to receive the replicated CDs, it is not cost effective for some bands and we prefer to have a CDR of incredible music than a band you'll never hear about because they can't put out a professionally pressed CD.
