About Safranin
Safranin Sound is a label formed by a collective of bands. The bands retain complete control over their music from recording to release. The bands that are members of the Safranin collective put out their own recordings, productions, and means of release. Safranin Sound is lead by a few individuals who coordinate efforts administratively for the bands and run the Safranin site (iTunes, Klicktrack, band page, band bio, etc); however, the ultimate responsibility for the music remains with each band. In exchange each band helps the other bands on the label through booking, promotion, design, photography, mastering or recording, video production, silk screening, etc. The collective allows each band to offer services and talents to the other bands involved. In this way, Safranin is a community, not a corporation.
By maintaining this atmosphere the artists are able to maintain control, gain promotion and distribution without incurring serious debt that is afforded with a large corporation. While working as a collective may at times have its limitations in that the collective can not offer huge budgets to a single band, no band will suffer the many pitfalls of signing away rights or incurring debt which they will never be able to repay.
We have long believed the music industry is broken, especially in America. We also believe the only way you can ever fight the corruption is to get out there and do it yourself and either make your own way or have some know-how to put up a fight. We also believe in offering our fans value for their money. You won't find CD's for $18.00 here, but you can expect to get some cool stickers and buttons when you buy from us.
